No sooner had it appeared than Lionsgate+ was closing its doors. The streaming platform formerly known as Starzplay did not survive its takeover by Lionsgate Studios at the end of 2022. Appearing in France in 2019, it is therefore the second streaming platform to cease operations in 2023, after the French Salto.
During its years of existence, many quality original series have appeared there, The Great, Gangs of London, Normal People or The Stand. However, this was obviously not enough to maintain the channel, which is loss-making worldwide. The platform is no longer working in France, but also in Germany, Italy, Spain, Scandinavia and Benelux since March 31 .
Are we witnessing a consumer fed up with the multiplication of streaming platforms? These interruptions come only a few weeks after the appearance ofAmazon 's Warner Pass and the launch of Paramount+, the two latest streaming products in France.
