Hunger Games fans are in heaven! After the successful trilogy and the prequel"The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird", released in 2023, a new film is in preparation in the dystopian universe invented by Suzanne Collins. Once again, we're staying in the past and exploring the fiftieth edition of the Hunger Games, the year in which theHaymitch character makes his appearance.
Particularly popular with the public, Haymitch Abernathy is the second winner of the Hunger Games in District Twelve and the only one alive before Katniss and Peeta, which leads him to become their mentor during their edition. In this new prequel, we'll find out why he became the hard-living, alcoholic but endearing man he did after being traumatized in the arena.
It won't be available immediately, however, as we'll have to wait until 2026! The related book, entitled"Sunrise on theReaping", is due to hit bookshops in 2025, as the author hasn't written it yet. But there's no end in sight for Suzanne Collins, Lionsgate and director Francis Lawrence, whose previous opus grossed $337 million.
