Paramount+ and Gaumont join forces to produce Le Signal, the streaming platform's first French series. Created by François Uzan, famous for his contribution to the Lupin series, the series is based on the best-selling novel by Maxime Chattam. The start of filming marks a key step in Paramount+'s expansion into the French streaming market.
Set in Brittany, Le Signal is a fantastic thriller that blends suspense and psychological drama. Looking to make a fresh start on the small island of Kernolé, the Dormeuil family find themselves plunged into a series of mysterious and disturbing events. Olivia, a pregnant journalist on a career break, and her daughter Camille, a science enthusiast, will have to face dark secrets and their own demons to save their family.
The cast includes well-known French TV actors such as Clotilde Hesme(Les Revenants, Lupin), Annabelle Lengronne(Un petit frère) and Grégory Montel(Dix pour cent). The author of the book that inspired the series, Maxime Chattam, also makes a cameo appearance in a secondary role.
François Uzan is both creator and showrunner of the series, with a script co-written with Maya Haffar and Delphine Agut. The series is directed by Slimane-Baptiste Berhoun and Karim Ouaret, and produced by Isabelle Degeorges and Aurélie Iniesta for Gaumont.
The Signal will be available on Paramount+ in France, Canada, the UK, Australia, Latin America, the Caribbean, Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Switzerland in 2024. This project represents a significant step forward in Paramount+'s efforts to expand its original content worldwide, and offers a fresh take on French drama, blending fantasy, family drama and suspense.
