The winners of this 9th ceremony put notable artists and works from French and international cinema in the spotlight. The laurels for the best French and foreign films, as well as the awards for emerging talent, were bestowed during a prestigious gala at the Mavrommatis restaurant, in the chic 8th arrondissement of Paris.
The list of winners included the American film "Killers of the Flower Moon", starring director Martin Scorsese. French director Jeanne Herry's " Je verrai toujours vos visages" was also honored with the title of Best French Film.
In the revelations category, young actress Ella Rumpf drew admiration for her role inAnna Novion 's"Le théorème de Marguerite", while Raphaël Quenard dazzled the jury with his performance in Jean-Baptiste Durand's"Chien de la Casse".
A special feature of the Lauriers du Cinéma ceremony was the introduction of a prize - the "Laurier de la comédie" - awarded posthumously to Gilles Kerdreux, film journalist at Ouest France, for his incomparable sense of humor. The Laurier de la comédie, a tribute to Gilles Kerdreux, was awarded to the film"Simple comme Sylvain" by Quebecer Monia Chokri.
This selection was the culmination of a meticulous process in which every single film of the year was evaluated. In fact, the members of the Club Média Ciné, dedicated to choosing the French and foreign films that emerged during the year at the end of each month, competed for this top-ranking selection.
Since their genesis in 2014, the Lauriers du Cinéma have built their strong reputation by revealing the vision of artists and journalistic critics from the French press, helping to bring cinema icons to the fore. True to its vocation, this ceremony pays tribute to artists, following an ancient tradition of the Greeks who crowned them with a simple wreath of laurels.
The event is gaining momentum in the French cultural world, providing an opportunity to celebrate and critically assess the past cinematic year. So, to the excitement of all those familiar with the art of cinema, we look forward to seeing you next year for a new batch of cinematic emotions at the Lauriers du Cinéma 2025.
In the meantime, discover the winning films and actors, or rediscover them, to take the measure of the past year's excellent cinematic output.
