Maddie Schwartz, played by Natalie Portman, is a Jewish housewife who aspires to reinvent herself as an investigative journalist. Meanwhile, Cleo Sherwood, played by Moses Ingram, is a mother navigating the political challenges of Baltimore's black community while struggling to provide for her family. Their lives, though distinct, eventually intersect in fatal ways when Maddie becomes obsessed with Cleo's mysterious death, threatening to expose dangerous secrets and upend their respective worlds.

La Voix du Lac targets an adult audience with a taste for psychological thrillers and historical dramas. Those who enjoyed Sharp Objects and Mindhunter will find here a plot rich in suspense and emotion. The series stands out for its profound exploration of the themes of identity, social justice and the price of pursuing one's dreams.
