The sequel to Freaky Friday: Dans la peau de ma mère, the hit comedy starring Jamie Lee Curtis(Halloween, True Lies) and Lindsay Lohan(Lolita malgré moi, La Coccinelle revient), has just begun shooting in Los Angeles.
More than 20 years after the first film, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan return as Tess and Anna Coleman. They are joined in this new adventure by Mark Harmon ( NCIS: Special Investigations), Chad Michael Murray ( The Scott Brothers), Christina Vidal Mitchell(The Guilty), Haley Hudson(Marley & Me), Lucille Soong(The Joy Luck Club), Stephen Tobolowsky(Garfield) and Rosalind Chao(Mulan), who reprise their roles. Julia Butters(The Fabelmans), Sophia Hammons (the Tête à tête series), Manny Jacinto (the Star Wars: The Acolyte series) and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (the Mes premières fois series) complete the cast of this family comedy to be released in cinemas in 2025.
Following in the footsteps of the 2003 film, but now with a multigenerational twist, the sequel to Freaky Friday: In My Mother's Skin takes place years after Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Anna (Lindsay Lohan) have gone through an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter and a future daughter-in-law. As they face the myriad challenges of bringing two families together, Tess and Anna discover that, against all odds, lightning can strike twice in the same place.
This sequel to Freaky Friday: Dans la peau de ma mère is aimed primarily at families and fans of the original film. The concept of mother-daughter body-swapping, revisited with a multi-generational perspective, could attract a new generation of viewers while delighting nostalgic fans. For those who enjoyed films like Mommy, I Missed the Plane or Father of the Bride, this new adventure should bring a similar combination of family comedy and emotional moments.
The return of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in Freaky Friday 2 promises a nostalgic yet refreshing family adventure. With a star-studded cast and a multi-generational plot, this film promises to be a must-see cinematic event of 2025.
