Crunchyroll, the streaming platform world-famous for its catalog of anime, has teamed up with Sony Pictures Entertainment to distribute Trapezium, a highly-anticipated animated film, in France. Directed by Masahiro Shinohara(Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai), Trapezium is based on the novel by Kazumi Takayama, and features a group of young girls determined to form an idol group. After a successful release in Japan on May 10, 2024, the film arrives in France on November 19 for a single day of screenings, before continuing its European tour in Germany.
Trapezium follows Yu Azuma, a high school freshman with a passion for becoming an idol. She recruits three other girls from different backgrounds to form a group. Each brings her own unique personality: Ranko, a sophisticated girl from the south, Kurumi, a robotics enthusiast from the west, and Mika, a sweet teenager from the north. With the support of their friend Shinji, who helps them behind the scenes, they embark on a journey fraught with obstacles to reach their idol dream. The screenplay adaptation by Yuko Kakihara(The Apothecary's Notebooks) promises a captivating dive into the demanding world of Japanese idols, where determination and friendship are the keys to success.
