Paramount+ unveils its new original series Landman, scheduled for release on November 18, 2024. Co-created by Taylor Sheridan(Yellowstone) and Christian Wallace, this drama series is based on the hit podcast Boomtown, which chronicles the upheaval caused by the oil industry in West Texas. Boasting a prestigious cast led by Billy Bob Thornton(Sling Blade), Landman explores the economic, climatic and geopolitical repercussions of a contemporary industrial revolution.
Landman takes place in the "boomtowns" of West Texas, communities that have sprung up out of nowhere thanks to the oil industry. The series follows both the derrick workers and the billionaires who profit from this financial windfall. The quest for wealth and power, coupled with environmental issues, shape the daily lives of these characters, all caught up in an industrial revolution that will have global repercussions. The story highlights the contrasts between those who build their fortunes and those who suffer the consequences, in a world of perpetual change.
In addition to Billy Bob Thornton, Landman brings together a top-notch cast: Ali Larter(The Last Victim), Michelle Randolph(1923), Jacob Lofland(Joker: Folie à Deux), Kayla Wallace(When Calls the Heart), James Jordan(Yellowstone), and Demi Moore(Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans). Jon Hamm(Mad Men) and Andy Garcia(Expendables) also appear as special guests. This star-studded cast, combined with the hard-hitting vision of Taylor Sheridan, known for his intense tales of contemporary America(Yellowstone, Sicario), promises an immersive, hard-hitting series.
