Following the resounding success of the first installment in 2020, The Platform returns to continue the nightmarish plunge into this dystopian prison universe. Directed once again by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, this horror film follows in the footsteps of societal sci-fi fictions where violence and survival intertwine. New faces in this sequel include Milena Smit(Madres Paralelas), Hovik Keuchkerian(La Casa de Papel), and Natalia Tena(Harry Potter, Game of Thrones), adding to the anticipation surrounding this psychological thriller. Like its predecessor, the film is due on Netflix from October 4, 2024.
The hell of the Platform is far from over. In this vertical prison, where inmates are fed in turn according to their place in a monstrous hierarchical structure, anarchy seems inevitable. This time, a new question arises: can any semblance of order really be established in this chaos? And if so, who would be bold enough to attempt the impossible? Platform 2 promises to explore even darker themes around the human condition, sacrifice and control. All in an atmosphere as oppressive as ever.
Platform 2 is aimed primarily at fans of psychological thrillers and dystopian tales. Those who have been seduced by works such as Cube or Snowpiercer should also find something to their liking. The film promises to go even further than the first in terms of social reflection and radical staging , while reinforcing its horror aspect. If you enjoyed Parasite's blend of visceral horror and social critique, this sequel may well live up to your expectations. By exploring questions of authority, justice and human morality, The Platform 2 could once again establish itself as a chilling reflection on human nature in society.
While La Plateforme left an indelible mark on science-fiction and horror cinema, this sequel looks set to push the genre's boundaries even further. With a renewed cast, an intrigue as agonizing as ever and burning moral questions, La Plateforme 2 has all the cards in hand to once again make its mark. Answer on October 4, 2024 on Netflix.
