If you're a fan of cathedral-like silence at the movies - with no kids, no popcorn and no groups of people milling around your seat - then you'd better move on, because this most unusual news item is definitely not for you. On the other hand, if you're not averse to getting your gap-toothed teeth stuck in when you go out to make a painting, then stay right here, as the rest may well be of interest to you.
Every last Monday of the month, L'Épée de Bois cinema in Paris's 5th arrondissement organizes a special cinema session called Gourmépée, combining a film screening with a tasting of food related to the film shown on the big screen.
As the team at the Quartier Latin cinema explains: "We believe that films, rather than being seen, can be experienced. And what sense is more evocative than taste? Gourmépée combines film screenings and tastings in collaboration with renowned restaurants and independent chefs. Let yourself be transported by an experience that combines cinephilia and gourmandise!"
If you like the idea, the next screening will take place on October 28, 2024, with Claude Zidi's L'aile ou la cuisse, starring Louis de Funès and Coluche. Snacks are €9 on top of the ticket price. Please note that it's not possible to attend the screening without taking the snacks, "the idea behind Gourmépée being to share a film and film-related tastes together."
