Blending humor, spectacular action and espionage, The Golden Circle pushes the boundaries of the genre with colorful characters and breathtaking action scenes. After saving the world the first time around, the agents of Kingsman, Britain's intelligence elite, face a major new crisis. Their headquarters are destroyed by a devastating attack orchestrated by Poppy Adams(Julianne Moore), a ruthless criminal who heads a secret organization called The Golden Circle. Poppy controls a vast global drug trafficking network and threatens to release a deadly toxin if her demands are not met.
Forced to flee, Eggsy(Taron Egerton) and Merlin(Mark Strong) discover the existence of the Statesman, an American secret agency founded centuries ago, similar to the Kingsman, but hidden behind the façade of a whisky distillery. The two agencies decide to join forces to foil Poppy's plans and save the world. British agents, in impeccable three-piece suits, and American agents, in cowboy hats and leather boots, form an unexpected alliance to combat this new global threat.
With the unexpected return of Harry Hart(Colin Firth), who Eggsy thought was dead, the Kingsman and Statesman will have to use all their know-how and sophisticated gadgets to outwit Poppy and save the planet.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is aimed at fans of dynamic action films and spy thrillers, as well as fans of the Kingsman franchise who appreciate the unique blend of eccentric humor, stylized action and gadgets worthy of the best James Bond films. The film is a veritable visual and narrative fireworks display, with action scenes that push the limits of the imagination, all in an atmosphere of light, irreverent comedy.
The originality of The Golden Circle lies in the unlikely alliance between the sophisticated Kingsman and their more rustic but equally effective American counterparts, the Statesman. The film juxtaposes British and American cultures in a humorous way, while exploring serious themes such as global power and technological terrorism. Julianne Moore, as the eccentric and deliciously evil villain, brings a new dimension to the Kingsman universe, with a mixture of cruelty and charm.
Available on Prime Video from October 20, 2024, Kingsman: The Golden Circle is a thrilling espionage thriller that perfectly combines action, humor and adventure. With energetic performances from Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, and a host of international stars, the film offers an entertaining and explosive adventure that will appeal to fans of action and spy comedies. A must-see for fans of the franchise and anyone looking for a spectacular film full of twists and turns.
Our review of Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017):
Kingsman: The Golden Circle takes up what made the first part of the franchise such a success: the codes of the spy movie, the punchy, nervous shots that plunge the viewer right into the heart of the action, and that characteristic humor, perhaps better delivered than in the first part. Elton John's presence and performance are a testament to the film's ability to amuse.
The film also surfs on clichés, taken to extremes (the American in all his guises, a kind of cowboy king of spitting with a hat screwed on his head, or the flower power hippie adept at chakras and totem animals), but which make this second installment a good, zany diversion in the tradition of Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: Secret Agents.
