For three decades now, theACID has been programming a parallel section at the Cannes Film Festival , highlightingfilms other than the official selections - screened in competition at the Palais des Festivals, the Directors' Fortnight and Critics' Week - and unveiling even sassier, stranger and more astonishing works.
A veritable laboratory for daring films, the ACID is unique in that it is the only Cannes section whose films are selected by filmmakers alone. Once again this year, some fifteen filmmaker-programmers, including Romain André, Damien Faure, Julien Meunier, Fanny Molins and Marion Naccache, spent months viewing several hundred films and selected 9.
The Acid selection for the Cannes Film Festival 2024 has just been unveiled, and as usual, it pays particular attention to films without French distributors and first features. Shall we reveal them to you?
