The Imagine Institute invites families to discover its free escape game, Escape Gènes, from April 9, 2022, then every month on selected Saturdays. The aim of the game is to raise young people's awareness of genetic research.

Who hasn't wanted to put on a lab coat and wage war on genetic diseases? That's what theInstitut Imagine, a genetic research institute located right next to theHôpital Necker, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, is offering you with an original free escape game. Entitled Escape Gènes, the game invites you to join theInstitut Imagine research team and discover the gene responsible for a relatively serious genetic disease in a child.

An escape game that's a little out of the ordinary... And with good reason: it takes place in several stages, to show the research protocols in place in the laboratories, and is played in groups of two to six people, accompanied by a researcher. The game has been devised by one of the laboratory managers, together with three doctoral students, with the aim of raising public awareness of scientific research, particularly in genetics, through the discovery of diseases and proposed treatments.

An experiment that the editorial team was able to test, in the company of another group of journalists. The game has been greatly simplified to make it accessible to all, and the various stages are fairly simple to complete. For here, there is no level of difficulty: the game is not there to challenge, but to raise awareness. On the handling side, there are a few padlocks, but above all, there are fun experiments to be carried out in the laboratory, which are very accessible, even for children, and which really help to get them involved in the experiment. A great way to discover the world of research.

Please note that registration is now open on theInstitut Imagine website, and that this escape game is recommended for people aged 12 and over (6 if accompanied by adults). Shall we book a session, folks?
