Almost a year to the day afterAzzedine Alaïa's death, a bookshop has opened in his historic home on rue de la Verrerie. The great couturier was a connoisseur and collector of art, and for years collected works from the worlds of fashion, design, furniture and photography.
As a fitting tribute, theAssociation Azzedine Alaïa has opened this bookshop alongside the gallery exhibiting the great couturier's work. Decorated and furnished with items from Azzedine Alaïa's personal collection, the bookshop offers books related to Alaïa's work and universe: fashion, fashion history, exhibitions dedicated to various art disciplines, as well as books devoted to the artists featured in his gallery.
The bookshop also offers collectors rare or limited edition books on fashion and photography. At present, a selection of rare books and artists' works is presented by Jan van der Donk's bookshop, which specializes in rare editions of books, magazines and ephemera of great historical and aesthetic value, covering various fields of the 20th century avant-garde: architecture, art, design and photography.
A place to remember the importance of Azzedine Alaïa in the history of haute-couture.
