Un livre et une tasse de thé is a committed feministbookshop in the République district, offering political and social works, as well as meetings with authors and a small, warm and inclusive tea room. The colorful decor enhances the displays of books, comics and feminist essays, chosen by Juliette and Annabelle, the booksellers behind this living space.
Just off the Place de la République, the bookshop has books for all ages, from the social sciences to ecology and practical life. The booksellers are committed to respecting gender parity on the shelves and to promoting the values of intersectional feminism, which is reflected in the meetings held in the bookshop. On a regular basis, leading figures in feminist literature are invited to sign their works and chat with their readers, over a tasty natural snack!
Although small, the tearoom is a real plus, breaking down the traditional bookshop concept. It allows curious readers to discover the books in the bookshop while enjoying a good cake, accompanied by hot chocolate or quality tea. The products come from local producers, like the delicious orange cake from TopKnot Café, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Depending on your diet, they can be vegan or gluten-free! The menu also includes brioche, financier, cookie, fresh fruit pancakes, iced tea and Viennese chocolate, making for a warm treat!
The bookshop has recently launched feminist boxes, available as one-off purchases or subscriptions, with different themes each month, available on the website. In March, the first box focused on anger, with a selection of goodies, as well as paperbacks or large-format books, depending on the formula chosen.
