Located in a literary and university district, the Majo bookshop opened its doors almost a year ago on rue des Boulangers, a stone's throw from Jussieu, the Panthéon and the Renard Café, as well as the Arènes de Lutèce and the Jardin des Plantes, where you can relax on a bench to read the book you've just bought! In this warm and colorful space, you can pick up a feminist book, a children's album or the latest committed releases from the new literary season. But you can also devour your purchase on the spot, accompanied by some vegan sweets and comforting drinks.
Surrounded by the color par excellence of feminism, purple, we let Margot and Juliette advise us on their current favorites. Depending on the literary genre we're interested in, we stroll between the shelves, between comics, manga, contemporary, wellness and practical life, with a lovely, cozy area set aside for children and teenagers. Amid this heap of books, each as fascinating as the next, you'll find a few armchairs and tables where you can sit back, read a book and sip your coffee, just like at home.
A place for sharing, both an activist bookshop and a vegan tea room, which regularly hosts book signings where you can meet your favorite authors, as well as writing, art therapy, upcycling, wellness and other artistic and literary events, often in solidarity. A space that puts all women in the spotlight and supports them in their work, thanks in particular to a side dedicated to committed board games and stationery items.
We also love the little"blind date with a book" corner, where you can choose a book blindly, based on key words, a concept that guarantees wonderful reading moments!
