A few steps away from the Renard Doré bookstore, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, the Renard Café has opened, highlighting Japanese culture, between mangas, bubble tea and quality pastries.

Mickaël, creator of Le Renard Doré, a bookshop specializing in manga in the 5th arrondissement, has teamed up with Pâtisserie Tomo to offer a real immersion in Japanese culture and cuisine. Even before you enter, you'll discover the inspirations of Studios Ghibli, with a little Totoro on display in the window.

Colorful tiles, flowery wallpaper, vintage lampshades: the enchanted atmosphere transports us into the world of Japanese animated films. On the menu, soups, onigiris and typical, refined pastries can be enjoyed with a good manga!

Lovers of Japanese flavors will be delighted by our wide range of hot and cold bubble teas , featuring teas from the finest vintages. These little pearl drinks are flooding the capital and have quickly become a must. Here, you're offered a truly upmarket journey through the archipelago, with matcha, black sesame, yuzu juice, tapioca pearls and anko to suit all tastes. For us, it was Matcha o-ré hot, with matcha and oat milk, and Yuzunade cold, again with matcha and yuzu juice! The taste of matcha is very particular for those who are not used to it, so prefer drinks with more milk and sugar to start with.

When it comes to pastries, try a superb dorayaki, a kind of pancake topped with creamy anko, a red bean-based dough, found in many authentic Renard Café sweets. We opted for a classic, but you can also find matcha, ricotta and yuzu. You'll also find daifuku, a soft little ball made with matcha, chocolate or sesame, and wagashi in a variety of forms, from cute little flowers to tasty chestnuts. Finally, two types of yatsuhashi, small crescent-shaped gourmet pancakes, are on the menu. Good to know, several pastries are vegan, so there's something for everyone!

Even the packaging is made from rice fibers, and we can tell you that it's very resistant, making it practical for take-away! For lunch, the café also offers miso soup with leeks, mushrooms and fresh wakame, one of the onigiris with salmon, tuna, shiso or edamame and a choice of dorayaki, for 10 euros. Enough to take a break at any time of day!
