Come and see for yourself the sets for the Dior Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2024 fashion show at the Rodin Museum, until Sunday June 30, 2024! The event is open to all and accessible with your museum admission ticket.
Designed by the Chanakya and Chanakya School of Craft workshops, the monumental embroidered works, true reproductions and reinventions of paintings by American artist Faith Ringgold, were the centerpieces of the set design for the latest Dior fashion show. The catwalk decor was carefully chosen by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Artistic Director of Dior, who has a deep interest incraftsmanship and the promotion of artisans.
Visit the sculpture garden at the back of the museum, where the set design for the latest Dior fashion show was erected among the works of Rodin. For 6 exceptional days, discover the work of Faith Ringgold, who passed away this year, through the shimmering creations of Munbai artisans, lining the walls of the ephemeral space.
From the outside, the slogan "Freedom Woman", covering the entire facade, sets the tone. Thefeminist artist, who fought against racial discrimination and misogyny, was also renowned for her political posters. The installation condenses her key creations all around you. In a profusion of bright colors, it unveils 32 panels some 4 meters high, one after the other along bluish walls, 3 patchwork quilts in the center and a series of "Free Yourself" banners inspired by Tibetan Tangkas (paintings on silk or cotton), suspended from the ceiling.
The XXL panels come in three series: sport (in a nod to the Paris 2024 Olympics), fashion and music. This year, mosaic squares and seed beads replace the usual flat embroidery to color the various portraits. A beautiful couture tribute to Faith Ringgold, made famous by her "mosaic paintings" and a colossal project that took almost a year and a half to complete.
This exceptional fashion exhibition aims to raise public awareness of the value of craftsmanship and tradition, promoted here by Dior. The Parisian fashion house, which has a long tradition of "committed" fashion shows, aims to preserve and promote this richness, and to perpetuate these ancestral techniques.
An excellent opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a Dior show in one of Paris's finest museums!
