For this 2024 edition, the Fashion jury, made up of former winners and industry professionals, was presided over by renowned fashion designer Stéphane Ashpool. This Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the names of the winners of the Grands Prix de la Ville de Paris 2024 were revealed, drum roll!
Inspired from childhood by her mother, a model mechanic in the garment industry, Lucille Thièvre has forged her path between technical mastery and high-end creation. A graduate of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, she cut her teeth at Hermès and Givenchy, before launching her own label in 2021 after being a finalist at the 2019 Hyères Fashion Festival. Her signature style? Sensual, feminine, inclusive pieces that are always easy to wear.
"My work as a model-maker is at the service of the body's lines," confides the young designer, who is also attached to the craft of glass.
Its in-house prototyping workshop, its network of French craftsmen and its ambitions place it at the heart of the creative renaissance, 100% made in France.
In addition to being a fashion designer, Mossi Traoré is a kind-hearted entrepreneur who dreams of couture and inclusion. With his Mossi brand and his school Les Ateliers d'Alix, this Parisian by birth has just won an award that is particularly close to his heart. This award is his way of paying tribute to his parents, and of saying to all those who, like them, have "held a broom", that today "their children are the pride of Paris."
Since her studies at Modart International, Mossi has made commitment her DNA. Rock'n'roll beginnings, between an internship at the Opéra Garnier, apprenticeships between India and the Paris suburbs, and phone calls to Janie Samet for a fashion show. After a failed first collection in 2011, Mossi didn't give up. He bounced back, creating his school in 2017, and today? His fashion is a true act of love and transmission. Between textile innovation (transforming waste into fiber) and socio-cultural actions, Mossi reinvents tomorrow's fashion, always with that little extra soul.
At just 22, Philéo Landowski is already a name to watch in the fashion world. His background? Anything but conventional. In high school, he negotiated agreements to do internships rather than stay in class. That's how he landed at Céline in 2017, under the direction of Phoebe Philo, where he explored all the inner workings of a major house. But it's the shoe that attracts him, this static object that he reinvents in his own way.
In 2019, he launches his own brand, Philéo, his "school", as he puts it. And what a school it is! Adrian Joffe, president of Comme des Garçons, spotted his talent and propelled him to Dover Street Market. Since then, his creations have been sold in 40 boutiques worldwide. Collaborations with Comme des Garçons, Salomon or Louis Gabriel Nouchi? Check. His approach? Take an iconic shoe, deconstruct it, give it volume and, above all, comfort. And while his success is exploding abroad, particularly in Asia, he is delighted to finally be recognized in France thanks to this award, which comes at just the right time to structure his team. Philéo is the "new" fashion nugget to watch closely.
Kitesy Martin has come a long way since launching her jewelry brand in 2018. Before plunging into this world of charms, she scoured the major fashion houses - from Balmain to Louis Vuitton - as a clothing and accessories designer. Her signature? Transform the unused into the precious. Forgotten charms, abandoned chains: she draws on hidden treasures to bring her creations to life. Today, while her eco-responsible DNA remains intact, Kitesy explores new avenues thanks to Ateliers de Paris, playing with snap hooks, crystals and cords in surprising combinations.
Between the move to its new premises a stone's throw from Place Léon Blum and mass production taking off, its latest collection is a hit with department stores the world over. For Kitesy, it's clear: all the stars are aligning. And this award is the icing on the cake!
In the other categories, the Design winners are Wendy Andreu, and Marlène Huissoud, whileAntonin Mongin and Atelier Sumbiosis are honored in the Métiers d'Art section.
