As French president Emmanuel Marcon has just decreed a curfew in Paris, in Île-de-France and 8 other cities, the Ministry of Sport has confirmed dispensations for professional rugby and soccer games will be available. For the soccer League 1, League 2 championships and rugby Top 14 and D2 tournaments, games scheduled from 9 p.m. will occur without a crowd.

Sport is to stick to curfew as well. French President said on Wednesday October 14 that a curfew will be implemented in Paris and Île-de-France. From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., it is now banned to leave your home – excluding special dispensations. Therefore, the Ministry of Sports has confirmed in the evening that professional soccer and rugby games will occur in the evening, but have to be crowd-less starting from 9 p.m.

Furthermore, in the Île-de-France region, like in the other eight cities, League 1, League 2 games – for soccer – and Top 14 and D2 games – for rugby – are sustained but closed to the public. The Elysée confirmed the news a few minutes after the head of state’s address. “There are dispensations for professional activities, but games will be played without a public”. In the meantime, the professional soccer league is still expecting precisions on the issue “of modalities to implement declarations” from the French President. An exceptional press conference is held on Thursday October 15, 2020 at 2 p.m. by Jean Castex and his cabinet.

It seems the curfew is set for 4 weeks, that is to say a month. Yet, depending on the evolution of the health situation, the executive reserves the right to ask it to be extended to 6 weeks, on the condition the Parliament agrees. Furthermore, for all soccer fans in Paris, all soccer and rugby games planned until December 1 at the Parc des Princes, the Stade Bauer, the Stade Charléty and the Stade Jean Bouin, and Paris La Défense Arena will take place without a crowd, with no exceptions.
