Since 2021, the Mai à vélo event has been celebrating this soft mobility throughout France, from May 1 to 31. The aim? To increase the number of regular cyclists, by promoting cycling on a national scale. It's a month-long national celebration supported by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Ministry of Sport, offering free educational cycling events for young and old, particularly in Paris and the Ile-de-France region.
It's a chance for everyone to get out on the pedals, for rides with family or friends, to discover new routes for the more experienced, or simply to get some fresh air in the midst of flowers and nature. Last year, the movement attracted over 50,000 participants and 12 million kilometers covered! On the program: introduction to cycling and safety, races, rides, repair workshops, film screenings and bike fairs.
