All top athletes leave with a nice sum after a victory in their sports. After 12 years without a women's Tour de France, 2022 was the year of the return of the female riders! After a start in Paris, eight stages awaited the cyclists before receiving their prize, in the Grand Est, this Sunday, July 31, 2022, according to their ranking. Mountain classification, team classification, prizes per stage, polka dot jersey, the possibilities toadd up rewards and money are multiple during the race.
But the women are still not on the same level as the men, and the prizes are much smaller. This is explained by the number of stages, divided by three, but also by a different craze, less profitable in terms of TV rights. Indeed, 247,530 euros will be shared between the female runners against the 2 million euros of the men. Annemiek van Vleuten, the winner of the women's Tour de France, will receive 50,000 euros, which is one zero less than her counterpart, Jonas Vingegaard.
