Ten years ago, choreographer Maurice Béjart left us twenty years after founding his company, Béjart Ballet Lausanne. Since his appointment, Gil Roman, who Béjart named as his successor and company art director, is solicitous over keeping the creator’s memory alive and creating by always respecting his principles.
This year, he presents The Magic Flute, a mythical creation in which Mozart’s wonderful opera music turns into steps, movements. Currently touring, the company will stop for a few shows from February 7 to 11, 2018 at Paris Palais des Congrès. Be ready to live an intense and magic moment, of which Béjart Ballet Lausanne has the secret.
“The Magic Flute has a Double aspect: first of all the fairylike, which carries us away to the pure poetry of childhood or genius, secondly and above all, it is a rigorous and inspired ritual. This combination may at first seem a little strange, but when it is seen that it functions perfectly, altering scenes, magical to comical with a profound philosophic message renders us more susceptible to grasp the symbolism, not alone with our minds, but with our entire being.” Maurice Béjart
