Each year, theOpéra en Plein Air festival presents a revisit of an opera by a personality who is not usually involved in the lyric art, such as La Traviata reviewed by Arielle Dombasle in 2015, Carmen reviewed by journalist Patrick Poivre d'Arvor and actress and producer Julie Gayet, who proposed a revisit of Les Noces de Figaro last year.
In 2018, Georges Bizet's masterpiece Carmen is (once again) revisited. After a revisit by Patrick Poivre d'Arvor in 2010, it's Radu Mihaileanu 's turn to direct.
The director and screenwriter of Va, vis et deviens, La Source des femmes and Le Concert, the film that revealed his interest in classical music. The film follows a group of former Bolshoi musicians from Moscow who want to replace their successors for a concert in Paris. A real French and international success: four million spectators were won over in Europe, including two million in France.
Aided by Yannis Pouspourikas (resident conductor at Essen Opera) as musical director, and Anne Gravoin as first violinist, a new production of the Opéra en Plein Air festival promises a show of great artistic quality.
In addition to the revisit,Opéra en Plein Air is performed in magnificent venues:
Always outdoors, in France's most beautiful châteaux, this opera will move us even more than indoors!
