After a (too) long absence, the Stars of Beijing’s Circus are finally back at Paris Cirque Phénix from November 24, 2018 to January 20, 2019 with The Monkey King, a fantastic show for children and adults.
Over 14 breathtaking acts expect you for an astonishing and colorful show. Acrobats, dancers and juggles with fantastic props will deliver exclusive performances: “The swallow’s jump” brought up by acrobats jumping in hoops as well as “the flight of sunshades”, beautifully mastered by jugglers’ feet skill.
The Monkey King is a true epic in the heart of China including legendary characters. First of all, Sun Wu Kong, half-man half-monkey. Looking for immortality, this iconic protagonist will endure the ultimate punishment by being locked under the Five Elements Mountain for 500 years. In the meantime, the public will follow monk Tang’s journey in India, looking for sacred texts that he has to have them translated into Chinese. A picturesque and fantastic adventure.
Based off the famous Chinese novel “Journey to the West” by Wu Cheng, the Monkey King has also been already adapted several times on the silver screen including Monkey King Defeats the White Bone Demon by Yang Xiaozhong and Yu Zhongying, a feature length opera movie released in the 60’s.
This new show by the Stars of Beijing’s Circus is the occasion to discover a classic work from the Chinese culture likely to please children and adults.
From January 24 to February 10, 2019, the company will leave Paris for a tour in several cities: Courbevoie, Nantes, Clermont-Ferrand without forgetting Geneva.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
