From October 22 to December 17, 2023, the Théâtre Montparnasse in Paris will host an impressive musical event: Le Pianiste Aux 50 Doigts. This musical theater piece is a celebration of the legendary pianist György Cziffra, on the 30th anniversary of his death.
Directed by Pascal Amoyel, this unique show brings together works by great composers such as Franz Liszt, Robert Schumann, Frédéric Chopin, Aram Katchatourian, Olivier Greif, George Gershwin and Duke Ellington, as well as improvisations by Pascal Amoyel. The event promises a harmonious marriage of music and text, directed by Christian Fromont.
Pascal Amoyel, an internationally renowned pianist and former pupil of Cziffra, stands out for his exceptional talent and is considered one of the Hungarian master's spiritual heirs. In contributing to this show, Amoyel pays vibrant tribute to his mentor and guides the audience on a memorable journey through Cziffra's extraordinary destiny, from his childhood in the slums of Budapest through the horrors of war, to his rise as one of the greatest virtuosos of the 20th century.
