Immerse yourself in an interactive journey combining maritime culture and playful learning, take part in unique workshops, from navigation to the mastery of sea chanteys, and experience a symbolic rite of passage.

Reopenings are cause for celebration! That's why the Musée National de la Marine invites you to discover a unique immersive theater experience, Le Passage de la Ligne, organized by the Sculpteurs de Rêves company. On Sunday November 19, from 3pm to 6pm, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in an initiatory rite emblematic of the maritime world. This three-hour experience offers an exceptional plunge into the heart of a traditional maritime ceremony, transforming participants into real sailors.

Le Passage de la Ligne at the Musée de la Marine is brought to life by an ensemble of 10 actors and 2 coordinators. Participants, considered as inexperienced sailors, will be guided through various workshops and immersive theatrical interactions. Each actor takes on the role of a crew member or deity, sharing their knowledge and essential skills for navigating the seas. Visitors will be introduced to skills such as chart reading, sea chanteys, star orientation and many other maritime practices, with each workshop associated with a specific work in the museum.

Participants will receive a passport to track their progress in acquiring maritime skills. Each character, interconnected with the others, ensures a coherent, seamless experience throughout the museum. Workshops such as tying sailor's knots, mastering the code of the sea, and learning how to use a coastal semaphore will be offered. This immersive odyssey culminates in the rite of passage across the equator, symbolizing the transformation of neophytes into seasoned sailors.

Please note that reservations are no longer possible, but you can still take part in the experience simply by visiting the site. An opportunity to rediscover the Musée de la Marine in a whole new way... Want to come along?
