From February 3 to September 1, 2024, Galeries Montparnasse unveils a fascinating 3,000 m² experience. Own Tutankhamun, the pharaonic immersive experience. This playful adventure is designed and directed by the same exhibition team who captivated audiences with the Ramses and Tutankhamun exhibitions at La Villette, offering an experience as rich as it is faithful to reality.
Immerse yourself in Egyptian history: theexhibition invites you on an incredible adventure through Tutankhamun's Antechamber, Annex, Burial Chamber and Treasure. You'll be immersed in an educational and interactive journey, dotted withriddles and historical replicas, retracing the discovery of the famous tomb and the story of the famous pharaoh. From the excavation village to the rooms you'll need to investigate, period characters are on hand to help you along the way. Can you find the secret code to access the treasure and the dream journey?
A spectacular collection opens up: over 1,000 meticulously reproduced objects and pieces are on display, offering a rich insight into the heritage and cultural richness of ancient Egypt. These replicas are the fruit of painstaking work, designed to transport visitors millennia back in time.
The ephemeral installation, which will remain open for a few months, is located at Galeries Montparnasse, in the 15th arrondissement, accessible via the Montparnasse-Bienvenüe metro station. Open from February 3, don't delay in booking your tickets.
After the Tutankhamun exhibition, which drew 1.5 million visitors, Napoleon 350,000, Machu Picchu 350,000 and Ramses 850,000, we produced theescape game at the Opéra Garnier, we realized that children and teenagers really like to learn by playing, and it's also a desire of families to encourage children to take part in culture by taking them to places with fairly cultural puzzles, or to exhibitions where there's a sort of thread of games that help to democratize this culture. My credo is the dramatization of culture, and this is part of it.
You're going to find yourself in Tutankhamun's tomb XXL over an area of 3,000 m2, which is twice the size of a normal exhibition. At La Villette, there were 150 original pieces; here, there are over 1000 replicas produced under the supervision of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Antiquities and designed by Egyptian architects. So these replicas are authentic and totally realistic.
We've recreated the 4 rooms - the annex chamber, the antechamber, the burial chamber and the treasure chamber - allowing you to meet the people who worked with Howard Carter in 1922 and helped him find the treasure. There's a hieroglyphics specialist with a riddle game, the mummification specialist with a game on mummification, the embalming specialist and the official photographer. All these people really existed, and we're going to dress them up and take people back to 1922.
At the end of this game, they will be able to create a password that will allow them to enter the treasure chamber and admire the masks and treasures. At the end of this quest, Howard Carter will thank them by letting them into a room that allows them to accompany the pharaoh on his vision of the journey into the water beyond. It's the first time we've created this, it's not mapping because it's new-generation led, you're going to be in a 140 m2 room, surrounded by led and you're going to be able to pass through the 12 doors of the Book of the Dead.
Everything is made of stone, there are torches everywhere and demanding work is done on the lighting and music. Before meeting Howard Carter, you'll enter a village of Egyptian explorers who are hard at work. You'll be equipped with a roadbook, which will also tell you who the characters you're meeting are, and help you create the password.
In short, Tutankhamun, the Pharaonic immersive experience, is an event not to be missed! What could be better than an invitation to explore ancient Egypt in a fun, instructive and entertaining way? Orchestrated by experts, this exhibition promises to be an unforgettable adventure for history and archaeology enthusiasts, as well as for all those in search of an immersive cultural experience.
