Alexis Michalik, originally an actor, took his first steps on stage in Roméo et Juliette, directed by Irina Brook. Two years later, he was admitted to the Conservatoire Nationale d'Art Dramatique de Paris, but decided not to attend to concentrate on his first show, Une folle journée, an adaptation of Beaumarchais 's Le Mariage de Figaro.
In 2013,Alexis Michalik created Le porteur d'Histoire, his first play, for which he met with great success. The play was performed at the Studio des Champs Elysées in 2013, returning in 2017 at the Théâtre des béliers. He subsequently wrote Le Cercle des illusionnistes in 2014. Both plays were nominated for the 2014Molières , and Alexis Michalik won the Molière for Best Author and Director .
In 2016, he returns with a brilliant new play Edmond, about the writer of Cyrano de Bergerac. The play is still running today at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal, and won 5 Molières. A big-screen adaptation even saw the light of day in January 2019.
He wrote the acclaimed play Intramuros in 2017, which also won critical acclaim, and finally returned in 2020 with Une histoire d'amour, also adapted for the big screen in 2023 by the author himself. In 2021, he also directs The Producers, his first musical based on the Mel Brooks film.
At the same time, Alexis Michalik is releasing his first novel, Loin, in 2019, which will be shortlisted for the Prix Renaudot des lycéens .
Actor, playwright, writer, director and stage director are the many hats worn by Alexis Michalik throughout his career. His plays have all been successful, and he won a total of six Molières: two for Le Porteur d'Histoire, two for Edmond, one for Une Histoire d'Amour and one for Les Producteurs.
