She made crowds around the world scream with her 2000 songs in over ten languages, she made millions of fans cry when she took her own life, she made hearts leap with each of her love dramas, she is a true gay icon...
Spotted by Bruno Coquatrix himself, it was Lucien Morisse, director of programs at Europe 1, who believed in her most and helped launch the success of the song Bambino, which made her a household name and launched her singing career. Dalida (1933-1987) was Italian, born on Egyptian soil and naturalized French: these mixed origins gave her a hybrid identity, warm and glamorous. We fantasize about her Mediterranean body, her brown breasts and her black-stretched eyes.
Conceived by museum director Olivier Saillard and guest curator Sandrine Tinturier, the exhibition at the Palais Galliera focuses on Dalida's sensual look, each line a love story. Dresses from the 50s by Carven meet an incendiary red sheath by Jean Dessès, alongside chic outfits by Loris Azzaro, a chasuble dress by Balmain, and of course disco sequined suits created by Michel Fresnay in the 70s.
With infectious pleasure, the Palais Galliera presents a dressing room that would make today's it-girls blush, and in the first half of 2017 offers thefashion exhibition we've all been waiting for!
And to get you in the mood, a classic :
