When art blends color, photography and video... This is a sacerdotal principle that Joan Ayrton applies to her work, and for which the Florence Loewy gallery is offering an exhibition dedicated to her from September 2 to October 7, 2017, entitled Slow Melody Time Old.
A British artist who has been living and creating in France for some time: the young woman currently teaches at the Ecole Européenne Supérieure de l'Image in Angoulème and Poitier, and from September 2017 will be in charge of studies at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Paris.
Her work questions " the issues of the gaze and representation through a reflection that mainly associates color, architecture and landscape ". For some time now, her work has revolved around the geological framework of the landscape.
Her flagship work is the film Searching for an A, which shows a string quartet playing a piece composed via video editing by the artist herself in the grand salon of the Villa Savoye, designed by Le Corbusier. A film in which the musicians tune up indefinitely and the instruments go out of tune.
A harmonious artistic melting pot that visitors who love architecture, photography and video can discover as they stroll through the gallery, while enjoying books about the artist (selection #4) and Roni Horn.
