During the European Heritage days 2017, the city of Boulogne-Billancourt inaugurated a brand-new museum dedicated to French sculptor Paul Landowski (1875-1961). The artist is famous for his work Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. To be visited!

The Paul Landowski museum is set within the Espace Landowski also known as the Museum of the 1930s. made of a 100 sqm room, the museum features 60 sculptures, 5 paintings and 10 drawings forming a very valuable work of art stock about this figure of the history of Boulogne where Landowski lived and died in 1961.

We discover the rich career of a man of the world of whom we find the works everywhere around the globe.

Indeed, Paul Landowski received the highest distinction in terms of art (the Prix de Rome in 1900) with his statue of David; today he remains in everybody’s head for his Christ the Redeemer (1931) set high up in Rio de Janeiro as well as for the Sources de la Seine (1936 at the Porte de Saint-Cloud in Paris), the Statue de Montaigne (1933), the Statue de Sainte Geneviève (1928) or the Mausolée de Sun Yat-Sen (1930) in Nankin, China, really appreciated by local tourists.
