It’s a delight no one should go without: having a trip to Giverny, set one hour from the Gare Saint Lazare, on the land of Claude Monet (and most of all, land of his garden with all those wonderful plants!), once spring has sprung. It’s also a delight for all art lovers since an excellent museum has opened exactly ten years ago, a stone’s throw from Claude Monet’s house: the musée des Impressionnismes.
The next event you don’t want to miss: the “Monet-Auburtin. An Artistic Encounter” exhibition. We discover a selection of paintings by Claude Monet (1840-1926) facing paintings by Jean Francis Auburtin (1866-1930). The idea is to oppose both artists’ works who lived at the same time and went to the same places to paint.
We smile observing the likeness of the shapes especially (and this is a super famous example) in front of the cliffs from Etretat, an unmissable pilgrimage site for all French painters from the late 19th century. More than a dialog between two artists, this exhibition tells about a time era, a period obviously filled with art discoveries and trials.
