A bit less than four years ago, the Musée de l’Homme opened in Paris. We could then discover the spectacular and superb Galerie de l’Homme, its 2500-sqm of exhibition area and its panoramic views of the Seine, the Eiffel Tower and the buildings on the left bank.
This summer 2019, it’s this unmissable place of the Musée de l’Homme that is revisited with the help of Centre Pompidou. As a matter of fact, the museum of modern art has lent to its acolyte specialized in anthropology some of its most beautiful masterpieces, in order to create an unexpected dialog with the pieces already displayed at the Galerie de l’Homme.
The latter follows a path set in three questions: “Who are we?”, “Where do we come from?” and “Where are we going?”. If there are vital issues, sculptors Alberto Giacometti and Stephan Balkenhol, architect Le Corbusier and plastic artists Martial Raysse and Oto Hudec will try to bring an answer to these issues.
Their work will dialog with objects from the prehistory, the ethnographic and anthropologic collections and the works conducted by scientists from the Musée de l’Homme.
Good to know: in the same time, Centre Pompidou is currently displaying precious objects from the Musée de l’Homme as part of the Préhistoire, une énigme moderne exhibition.
