This is official, museums and monuments in France are allowed to reopen from June 2, 2020. This good news has been announced by Edouard Philippe in his address on Thursday May 28, 2020. Small and big museums can open to visitors again, whether they are set in green or orange areas.
June marks the return of the cultural life in Paris and France. If facemasks remain compulsory during our next visits to museums and monuments, the possibility to meet this cultural and art life again is a treat for visitors and institutions.
So far, the future for big museums was in a blur: our peers at La Croix told us a few days ago that museums had to hand to the Minister of Culture a “recovery and deconfinement plan”: “We suggested to work on two case scenarios: resuming in July or in September. We all hope, of course, to reopen this summer. But it is not sure one resuming date will be set because, depending on the places, constraints are very different” Musée du Quai Branly interim president Jérôme Bastianelli explained.
Some museums have already reopened, others will follow by June 2.
