We recognize his moustaches and watches at a glance, but what do we really know about him? L'Atelier des Lumières presents Dalí, l'énigme sans fin, an exhibition running until January 2, 2022. Immerse yourself in this surreal, hypnotic and mysterious universe.
It's like walking through a dream... The exhibition at theAtelier des Lumières takes us into Dalí 's unique world, retracing over 60 years of creative work. Paintings, drawings, photographs, installations, films and archive footage reveal the Catalan painter's unique personality, as well as his obsessions with the strange and supernatural, and his fascination with his wife Gala, his true muse and collaborator.
The monumental works projected onto the walls of the Atelier also reflect the Spanish painter's inspirations: great masters such as Velázquez, Raphael, Michelangelo, Vermeer and Millet.
The scenography and choice of works produce a hypnotic effect: it's quite an experience to wander through Dalí's paintings. The optical effects and dreamlike evocations the painter plays with in his works are revealed in a whole new light.
From his initial Impressionist and Cubist research to his mystical works with religious themes, his Surrealist period and his relationship with the stage, photography and cinema, the Atelier des Lumières provides a complete tour of Dalí's career, but one question remains: can we really unravel all the mysteries of this surprising man?
The exhibition is accompanied by the music of Pink Floyd. A daring choice, which may come as a surprise, but it was not made at random. Like the painter himself, the British band brings to the fore an astonishing visual imagination where obsessive visions and technical virtuosity mingle.
In the second half of the exhibition, discover Gaudí, architecte de l'imaginaire, a tribute to this architectural genius.
