From March 25 to July 24, 2022, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris invites you to discover an exhibition based on the work of visual artist Anita Molinero, Hérrissé et cramé. A retrospective of the artist's work at the invitation of the museum, for which she has created a whole series of"anthropomorphic, totemic silhouettes", as well as incandescent landscapes.
Blending industrial and natural materials, these silhouettes bear witness to"a dismantled urban environment and the tensions it induces". For the past thirty years, Anita Molinero has been producing these silhouettes from containers, garbage cans, boxes, toys and car headlights, using only a blowtorch and a kärcher to stop"the action of heat", producing "bubbles and blisters, gaps and laces, crystallization effects and 'caramelization'".
A mastery of molten matter that demands"precision of gesture and concentration", recalling"certain traditional practices of the 'arts of fire'". The title of the exhibition also plays on a double meaning, on the word "cramé", which colloquially refers to the effects of drugs, and"to the fire techniques developed by the artist". Through these mysterious characters, the artist performs a reversal,"bringing materials derived from petrochemistry back to their original components" through transformation processes evoking"an alchemical or volcanic action".
A chance to discover an artist with a thousand facets. Shall we go?
