Like the French Revolution, the Paris Commune is a major event in the history of the capital, where women took their place and made their voices heard. What better way than on International Women's Rights Day to focus on these female figures who marked the Commune and took up arms against the government, in response to the social austerity of the time. Until March 6, 2023, go to the Paul Eluard Museum of Art and History, to discover the exhibition"Insurgent.es!" which traces the 72 days of the Commune through drawings, prints, newspapers and other objects, to keep alive the memory of those who knew it.
What traces of the Paris Commune remain in the streets of the capital?
More than 150 years after the events of the Paris Commune, what traces and remnants of the Paris uprising remain in the streets of the capital? Follow the guide! [Read more]
As part of this exhibition, a guided tour around the communardes is proposed on Sunday, March 5, at 14:30. If Louise Michel is particularly famous for her commitment, many anonymous or not figures helped to shake the powers that be. From the canteen worker to the worker, from the nurse to the defense of the barricades, this visit highlights the fate of thousands of women not to be forgotten.
An urban walk is also set up with the guide-lecturer Anouk Colombani, if you wish to deepen the history of the Commune, in Saint-Denis this time! On Saturday, March 4, at 3pm, the guide invites you to cross the square Pierre-de-Geyter, the passage Jules-Vallès, or the boulevard de la Commune-de-Paris to evoke the memory of these popular places, and the history of the people who hide behind them.
