Photographer François Fontaine takes us on an astonishing journey to meet the world's wild animals, in a free exhibition at the Leica Gallery. The exhibition, entitled Supernature, runs from June 29 to August 26, 2023.
Vivid colors, majestic animals, an exotic journey, the French artist's photographs have everything to captivate us. There is one detail, however, that is surprising at first glance... The photographer's images are completely out of focus! Even more curious: François Fontaine didn't go looking for these animals in their natural habitat. Instead, the artist created an " imaginary safari ", photographing passages from wildlife documentaries. A completely unusual approach!
François Fontaine draws his inspiration from his favorite films and documentaries, and lets his instincts guide his photographs. Armed with his camera, he waits for the right moment to immortalize one shot or another, creating images with shimmering, dreamlike colors.
The Leica gallery takes us on an unexpected journey through these works. The visit even becomes a game: which animal hides behind this artistic blur? What secrets lie behind these majestic creatures, which the camera fails to capture completely? Here, the blur becomes a symbol of freedom: this powerful, untamed nature can't stop completely, can't satisfy the artist who observes them from afar.
No need for a passport: take part in this unusual journey, and come and admire the works of François Fontaine at the Leica gallery this summer.
