From its very inception, the bicycle has captured the hearts of the French. More than two centuries later, this two-wheeled machine has come a long way! And so have the people of Neuilly. The town of Neuilly-sur-Seine is presenting a free, never-before-seen exhibition at the Théâtre des Sablons. Through photographs, archive films, documents and even bicycles from various eras, the exhibition tells the extraordinary story of cycling in Neuilly!
We look forward to seeing you at the theater from October 13 to 29, 2023, to discover this exhibition that should appeal to all generations. Fun, educational and aesthetically pleasing, the exhibition takes us into the world of bikes, bicycles, BMXs and other two-wheeled enthusiasts.
The exhibition focuses on both the sporting and social practices that have evolved with the bicycle. As a means of locomotion synonymous with freedom, technological and industrial innovations, and the transformation of towns and cities to adapt to this new machine: the arrival of the bicycle brought with it many changes, not least in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
The exhibition recounts this epic story, from the invention of the bicycle to the velodromes of Neuilly, via the great racing cyclists, the emancipation of women through cycling, the new sporting and ecological practices in this town in the Hauts-de-Seine region...
It's an artistic and sporting tour not to be missed! Come along to the Théâtre des Sablons to discover this free exhibition.
