Enter this exhibition as if you were stepping into a fairy tale or fable... TheEspace Monte-Cristo in Paris is offering us a new artistic adventure, with Les mondes imaginaires. This free exhibition, on view from April 13 to December 15, 2024, takes us into the poetic, dreamlike and mysterious worlds of nearly thirty contemporary artists.
French and international sculptors have imagined magical, exotic, esoteric worlds, worlds that reflect our societies. Through their works, artists question our future, giving life to their hopes and fears.
More than 50 sculptures are staged to tell a magical story. An enchanted forest full of enigmatic creatures, an idyllic beach with colorful palm trees, a mysterious city, a cabinet of curiosities... These different universes follow one another like chapters in a novel, and we move from one world to another under the gaze of original creations by artists such as Françoise Pétrovitch, Eva Jospin, Laurent Perbos, Tadashi Kawamata, Andrea Bowers, Lorenz Estermann, Agnès Varda...
For this exhibition, Espace Monte-Cristo has given Jean-François Fourtou carte blanche. The artist unveils his astonishing, playful installation: discover a distant world, a dimension parallel to our own, in which humanity has merged with nature, giving rise to surprising hybrid beings.
Each room, each work, is very different from the others, offering a constantly renewed experience and wonder. Complex and rich stories are hidden in these paintings, which speak to young and old alike. There's even a fun booklet for young visitors, who can enjoy these imaginary worlds in their own way...
The Imaginary Worlds exhibition promises us a marvellous and unusual journey, alongside renownedcontemporary artists. A poetic epic that questions our practices, our humanity and our future, through fascinating sculptures. See it now!
