A small toy, a big imagination: many of our childhood figurines broke records in athletics or ball sports. Physical activities also inspire children, who have no shortage of toys related to the various sports they play or see on TV. The Musée du Jouet in Poissy is organizing a fun, family-friendly exhibition around these Olympic toys.
From March 13 to September 22, 2024, the museum is going into sports mode, with a motley collection of toys from yesterday and today, around a topical theme.
Visitors can admire around a hundred sports-related toys and games, dating from the 1850s to the present day. There are, of course, numerous figurines, plush toys and animals, in a variety of activities such as soccer, dance, combat sports, cycling or swimming... Many toys are equipped with mechanical devices that enable them to move and move forward, to reproduce the gestures of sportsmen and women. Paralympic athletes are also represented, through a variety of colorful characters.
The exhibition will amuse children and interest parents alike: over the course of decades and centuries, we can see interests evolve and practices change. Motor racing, horse-riding and combat sports gradually give way to more popular, more modern activities.
The exhibition is rounded off by a digital device that allows the most creative visitors to create their own personalized Olympic mascot.
A fun exhibition for the whole family, not to be missed at the Musée du Jouet.
