Since its creation, L'Aiguillage, a gallery of artists and sisters, has worked to promote the work of women artists.
Here in particular, in this particular medium of Textile, in its eminently artistic side for "Textile et Fil contemporain".
A discipline, a material, that has evolved into practices quite different from the crochet/knitting/patchwork/sewing quartet and other traditional "DasSe-temps" reserved for women, towards the field of authentic, contemporary and innovative plastic expressions.
This multimedia collective exhibition is intended to reflect this and help remove this practice from the somewhat outdated box in which it has often been confined, while revealing the imagination, know-how, originality and inspiration of the 12 designers selected:
Helen Banzhaf
Mireille Cambau
Guacolda
Letizia Giannella
Stéphanie Olivar
Helen Banzhaf
Frédérique Gourdon
Carla Ciuffo
Mai Khan Pham To
Sigrid Hynell Fleischer
Alais Raslain & Anaid Fleig

Les Frigos, with its water tower, is a legendary site in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. More than 10,000 square meters spread over 5 floors of former refrigerated warehouses, built in 1929 on a vast railway wasteland to store fresh foodstuffs in Paris, frozen on site, and to manufacture tons of ice cream loaves!
At the end of the 80s, all the spaces, once abandoned, were invested, transformed into artists' studios, recording studios and production facilities, and became the most underground center of artistic, cultural and festive activity in Paris.
In 2023, some 80 artists' studios and creators of all kinds will continue to create, work and exhibit there, despite the lack of renovation of the site, announced decades ago but always postponed. Many of the studios are now empty, and the City of Paris will not re-let them "until the renovation work has been completed".
Les Frigos still has a great deal of energy, but the gradual depopulation is detracting from its vitality.
