Galerie Templon invites Prune Nourry to take over its various spaces on rue du Grenier-Saint-Lazare in Paris. In this new solo show, on view free of charge from January 11 to March 1, 2025, the French artist will unveil her latest project, entitled "Vénus".

Prune Nourry holds another solo exhibition in Paris. For the occasion, the French visual artist once again takes over the Galerie Templon to present her latest project, entitled"Vénus", for the first time. An artistic event to be discovered from January 11 to March 1, 2025 at the Parisian gallery nestling on rue du Grenier-Saint-Lazare.

Prune Nourry returns to the Galerie Templon to unveil her clay sculptures of women, having already exhibited here in 2019 and again in 2021. The idea for these sculpted busts of women began with a meeting between Prune Nourry and Ghada Hatem. An obstetrician-gynecologist, she is also the founder of the Maison des Femmes de Saint-Denis, a support center for women victims of violence.

During various workshops (literacy, theater, dance...) offered at the center, Prune Nourry met eight women. They agreed to pose nude so that the artist could model their bust in clay in the style of prehistoric Venus.

Each portrait, created in human size or in small format, is then cast and fired in bronze covered with an earthen skin, or fired in terracotta. This new project follows in the footsteps of the artist's previous projects, which explore the place of women in society through the symbolism of clay. These include"Terracotta Daughters" (2011-2031),"Mater Earth" (2020-2023) and"Statues Also Breathe" (2022).

The exhibition also echoes the commissioned work"Les Vénus dionysiennes", imagined in tandem with architect Kengo Kuma for the Grand Paris Express. The work will be on view at Saint-Denis - Pleyel station in 2026. At the inauguration of the line 14 extension last June, the artist unveiled 8 of these 108"Dionysian Venuses", which will soon adorn the station's atrium. Photos to be found on Prune Nourry's social networks.

From January 11 to March 1, 2025, Galerie Templon will be exhibiting a series of 8 small bronzes with an earthy patina, as well as a scale 1 (170 cm ) prototype of Venus. Visitors will thus be able to appreciate the monumental dimension of this future permanent installation"Les Vénus dionysiennes",

In addition, more than thirty molds from the Atelier de moulage du GrandPalaisRmn, in Saint-Denis, will be on view in an installation in the gallery basement. Finally, a documentary film, directed by Vincent Lorca, retracing the relationship between the artist and his models, will also be shown at Galerie Templon.
