The world of London artist Oli Epp as you've never seen it before at Galerie Perrotin... The cultural establishment adjoining rue de Turenne invites you to discover the exhibition Clear History, from January 31 to March 1, 2025. This group show brings together 18 artists to reflect on the paradoxes of technology and memory. Through some twenty works, the exhibition examines how technology influences our perception of the past and shapes our relationship with history.
Conceived by Oli Epp, who also acts as curator, Clear History revolves around a central idea: " History is chaotic. It's anything but 'clear'. When we start digging, we discover narratives woven with bias, half-truths and contradictions," explains Oli Epp. This reflection echoes the act of deleting a computer's browsing history, a gesture which, according to the exhibition, illustrates the attempt to erase traces of the past. Yet far from clarifying history, technology tends to simplify and even distort it, creating a reality that is sometimes skewed.
The works presented in Clear History explore this ambiguous relationship with technology. Among the artists on show are Harrison Pearce, Tammi Campbell and Maja Djordjevic, whose work lies at the crossroads of the digital and physical worlds. By juxtaposing past and future, the exhibition highlights the contradictions of an era in which artificial intelligence, while a tool for progress, also contributes to misinforming and reinventing reality.
Clear History offers a space for reflection on the tensions between memory, technology and truth, in resonance with contemporary issues linked to the digital age. An approach worth discovering to better understand the challenges of our time.
