Every year, the gigantic Palais de Tokyo hosts its DO DISTURB festival . Dance, music, theater... On April 12, 13 and 14, 2019, you can discover international artists performing.

DO DISTURB 2019 performance selection:
(full program online)

  • Diorama - Ingri Fiksdal

For Do Disturb, Ingri Fiksdal re-adapts Diorama, a series of performances that can take place in both natural and urban landscapes. Here, the artist uses choreography as a filter to create a new space-time. The iridescent finery and slow movements of anonymous dancers alter our perception of the places in which they unfold. They underline the passage of time.

  • But tomorrow never came - Jimmy Beauquesne

Jimmy Beauquesne's work is fueled by his daily use of image banks, fan forums and social networks, which he then transforms into drawings, sculptures and installations. For the Palais de Tokyo festival, the artist invites tarologists to discreetly occupy certain common spaces. They give readings, both public and intimate, based on a deck of cards created by the artist, mixing Marseille tarot symbols with pop figures.

  • Enter the Palmtree show - Mehdi Besnainou

Mehdi Besnainou's work is transdisciplinary. Painting, drawing, video, music, singing... he often combines them in performances. His work questions socio-political, cultural and philosophical issues. For Do Disturb, he presents "Enter the palmtree show", a low-tech television set reminiscent of the American Late-Night TV show. This mock show takes a derisive look at current affairs, alternating between pre-produced interviews and live, sometimes improvised, interactions with viewers.

  • Cheers - Kristin Helgebostad

A cheerleader in her teens, Kristin Helgebostad returns to her roots with CHEERS! a moving analysis of cheerleading. This performance, led by six dancers and a chime player, celebrates group energy and calls for action.

  • CULTES - La Horde

Multi-disciplinary collective (LA) HORDE, founded by three artists, introduces dance to amateurs, teenagers and seniors of all backgrounds. Their universe borrows as much from pop culture as from Michel Foucault, from jumpstyle as from post-internet dance - they advocate universality and horizontality, like a whole generation.

  • Dirty Movies & XO - Harley Swedler

Dirty Movies is a collection of around 100 music videos shot all over the world in which Harley Swedler, inspired by the invincibility of youth, sings famous tunes in playback. The architect, designer and artist also presents XO, a "kissing booth" questioning the transactional nature of affection and perceptions of intimacy in the public domain.

And for night owls, Brooke Candy, Dustin Muchuvitz, Violeta West and December take over the Yoyo for a night organized by Boiler Room, a London-based project launched in 2010 that organizes DJ sets for small audiences, broadcast live on the Internet.

During the festival, the Palais de Tokyo exhibitions will be open to the public.
