Disneyland Paris is perhaps one of the places that makes children and their parents dream the most... A surrounding magic made possible by the many details more or less visible in the parks of the resort, on the buildings, on the ground or even within the attractions.
And if the park still has secrets for you, but you want to know them, good news: the editors have gone in search of ten secrets or anecdotes about the park and its attractions. Ten beautiful stories to discover later by yourself by visiting the park, or even to unearth others! Let's go hunting for secrets, friends?
Nestled in the heart of Main Street, in one of the two covered arcades of the street, is a secret known to insiders and fans, but not necessarily to casual visitors: a mini-museum celebrating the Franco-American friendship, and telling the story of the Statue of Liberty's journey from France to the United States. A slightly hidden space, behind a red curtain, that you should not hesitate to open to discover it.
A rather hidden store at the entrance of Adventureland, on the Aggrabah side, the Curious Giraffe bears its name well... And for good reason: a giraffe (a fake one, of course) has decided to say hello to visitors by crashing into the store. If you go in, you won't miss it!
No big secrets here, but several inspirations concerning the construction of the castle: In its overall shape, it is inspired by the Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel, while its stained glass windows are inspired by those of the Loire castles, made in the old way, as in the 12th century. The roof and its diamond-shaped tiles are inspired by those of the Hospices de Beaune, while its main stained glass window, located on the highest tower and illuminated at night, refers to the history of the Château de Chambord, in which a light remained lit in the highest central tower of the building, indicating the presence of the king.
Have you ever noticed that a giant egg was sitting on one of the towers of the wall at the entrance of Adventureland, on the Aggrabah side? Hidden behind a few trees, very discreet, the egg is nevertheless quite visible. It is a reference to one of the Tales of the Thousand and One Nights, in which Simbad the Sailor discovers the egg of a Bird of Stone.
Did you know that? At Harrington's, a store located on Main Street, a dome stands proudly above the cash registers, in the center of the store. What makes it special? If you and another person stand at opposite ends of the pair, you can hear each other as if you were standing next to each other. A unique dome design makes this acoustic resonance possible.
If you take a walk down Main Street, you might notice that some manhole covers are different from the others. And for good reason: some were donated by the cities of New York or Baltimore for the park. Now it's up to you to find them!
A secret that is not really a secret anymore, since most visitors know that there is a barber shop in the park, on Main Street. But what you may not know (or at least what you may not have noticed) is that you can admire yourself on theadvertising poster in the form of a mirror in the window and see what your face would look like with a mustache. A mirror game also at children's size, to have a little fun on Main Street. And for those who would like to have their beard trimmed, we advise you to make an appointment!
At the very end of Main Street, when you get to Central Plaza, you'll find Casey's Corner, a very nice little restaurant selling hot dogs and a nice snack formula (but also ice creams for the greediest). And if you look a little closer at the front, you'll see that the baseball player in the middle of the big C of the sign is in fact an anemometer, used to measure the wind speed. If you see it spinning, the winds have changed direction!
A few steps from the Premier Access entrance of Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, on the Hyperion Café building, are two portholes within the beginning of a tube. These tubes were originally intended for the Discovery Mountain attraction, which was replaced by the Space Mountain that we know. They were to be used as a walkway to access the mountain, which originally offered several attractions and a promenade.
If you walk around Phantom Manor, or if you go out of the attraction, you have the possibility of making a tour to the Boot Hill cemetery which is full of little secrets and references to the history of the land. We are interested in four funny tombstones, located next to each other and representing a food chain of the most curious. Have you already seen them?
Nice finds that we invite you to discover during your next visit. And if you know of any other little anecdotes or secrets about the park or certain points of interest, don't hesitate to tell us about them, folks!
