On Saturday, April 27, 2024, La Fête de la librairie will be celebrating literature with an exceptional and unique book. In partnership with Gallimard, a selection of some twenty poems from Jacques Roubaud's collections, "Les animaux de personne" and "Les animaux de tout le monde", will be printed in a limited edition of 25,000 copies, and offered free of charge to customers of participating independent bookshops throughout France. The books will be illuminated by the painter Edi Dubien, in the tradition of artists' books.
Nearly 500 booksellers across the country are hoping to pass on the history and culture of books through the publication of a particular work, in collaboration with all the links in the publishing chain. Poetry classics, these works are either dedicated to animals that our imaginations have left behind, forgotten species from cabinets of curiosities, or bestiaries where domestic animals, wild beasts and endangered species meet.
A great way to share a moment with booksellers, and an ideal book for literature lovers and collectors alike!
