The experience that"Le Gué" promises is no small one. Imagine an astonishing transverse bridge, erected to mark the centenary of the acquisition of the Domaine départemental de Sceaux, bringing the Grand Canal and the Châtenay-Malabry plain to life. The installation has been donated by the Département des Hauts-de-Seine to surprise both regular visitors and newcomers with a truly immersive artistic experience from June 3 to September 17, 2023.
All summer long, with family or friends, you'll be able to enjoy this aesthetic, sensory and fun experience. Accessible free of charge, "Le Gué" offers you a unique perspective of the Domaine, at the crossroads of the great East-West and North-South cardinal axes. It's up to you to make the crossing, as if you were simply walking on water!
Designed by Crystal, this 125-metre-long, 6-metre-wide, 20-cm-underwater ephemeral installation has been conceived to be both accessible to all, with an ideal environmental impact since it consumes no energy. As the Domaine de Sceaux straddles several communes, note that this installation has the original feature of taking you from Sceaux to Antony and vice versa, in one crossing of the Grand Canal.
The installation opens during the Rendez-vous aux Jardins and closes during the European Heritage Days. A reminder that the work is more than just an installation, it's a moment of sharing.
As we told you, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the acquisition of the Domaine de Sceaux by the Conseil Général de la Seine, in 1923. To mark the occasion, the Département des Hauts-de-Seine, the current owner, is delving into the past to bring to life the history and evolution of the estate through the event"100 years of sharing! 1923-2023, la Renaissance du Domaine de Sceaux", on view until November 14, 2023. With historical and photo exhibitions, escape games, nocturnal activities and a monumental installation, this anniversary promises to be full of exciting discoveries.
The centenary is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the pressing need for local authorities to preserve and enhance their public heritage, and to ensure the sustainability of their real estate assets, particularly their historic monuments.
Last but not least,"Le Gué" is not just a work of art, it's an invitation to enjoy a unique experience and rediscover the Domaine de Sceaux in a different, unusual way. It's a good idea to try it out for free!
