Sunday DIY enthusiasts, you're going to need a lot of ingenuity to make your bathtub float! For the past 13 years, a particularly unusual sporting event - a bathtub race - has been taking place on the Canal de l'Ourcq, in the town of Pavillons-sous-Bois. This year, the event will take place on the banks of the canal on July 7, 2024, and you'll have the chance to float your original bathtub as fast as you can over a distance of 150m, without forgetting your lifejacket - because you're not immune to taking on water!
For this freerace, all you have to do is choose the partner who will accompany you on this crazy adventure and build your bathtub, complete with PVC pipes to help it float. If you don't have your own bathtub, the association organizing the event can lend you one, which you can customize! There's plenty of entertainment all day long for those who want to stay dry, while competitors take part in elimination rounds and then the grand bathtub final.
Don't forget to register on the APJC website and find out how to make a bathtub that floats, as homologation and tests will be carried out beforehand, to make sure you don't sink! There are three events to choose from: a bathtub decorating contest, a classic bathtub race and an agility race. All participants must present a 25-meter swimming certificate.
